Caribbean Golf Course of the Year
Readers of the "Caribbean World" magazine have voted the 18-hole par 71-championship
course the best the Caribbean has to offer since 1997. Britannia at the Hyatt Regency
offers it all. Cayman's 9-hole executive course designed by Jack Nicklaus... proves bigger
does not always mean better. The Links at Safehaven is a championship 18-hole course and
is also in the Seven Mile Beach area on West Bay Road. The Sunrise Family Golf Centre is a
short nine-hole par three course specifically designed for the whole family - regardless
of playing level. The Sunrise Family Golf Centre complex features Bermuda Tift Dwarf
Greens and Bermuda 119 tees and is maintained to Championship course standards. You may
view the North Sound and tee-off with the best.

Islands is completely different than the other Caribbean Islands because there is plenty
of deep water and a variety of fish that changes with the tides. This is the perfect spot
for first-time anglers to come and start reeling in mahimahi, marlin and yellowfin tuna.
The ocean floor drops off sharply just a quarter-mile offshore of Grand Cayman, Cayman
Brac and Little Cayman. The Cayman Islands have been known as an excellent sportfishing
destination for anglers seeking bluewater billfish action that is close to shore.
Good bonefishing exists in the shallow flats of North Sound, South Sound and Frank Sound
on Grand Cayman. The fighting fish average three to eight pounds. Bonefish are also found
along the shallows off the southwest coast of Cayman Brac, coastal flats off Little Cayman
and South Hole Sound Lagoon and Owen Island. The sportfishing is bountiful in Grand
Cayman's North Sound and Little Cayman's landlocked pond - Tarpon Lake. Little Cayman is
known for its light tackle and flyfishing. The largest schools of bonefish frequent the
shallow areas of South Hole Sound. Tarpon are plentiful in Tarpon Lake. These fish once
grew no larger than four to eight pounds, but now are frequently caught weighing in at 15
to 35 pounds.

International Fishing Tournament is held. This event is hosted by the Cayman Islands
Angling Club, and anglers can win more than $400,000 USD in cash and prizes. Prizes are
given for record breaking existing Cayman Islands catches. The top prize is $250,000 USD
for the angler breaking the existing record for a blue marlin weighing in at 584 pounds,
caught in 1984.
